The on-demand car service Gett is offering free rides for the rest of November (actually until December 2nd)! This is for their new carpooling service called Gett Together. Then, starting December 5th, these Gett Together rides will cost a flat $3/ride.

What exactly is Gett Together?

Gett Together is the same concept as UberPOOL, Via, etc. where you will request a ride along a certain route and will share the car service with other passengers along the same route.

Currently, the rides are catered to those commuting to/from work and will be available Monday through Friday between 7-10am and 5-8pm. The routes are still limited and will include:

  • Upper East Side to Midtown in the morning (starts at 96th and 2nd, then crosses over to Madison at 31st Street, goes up to 40th and Madison)
  • Upper West Side to Midtowm in the morning (starts at 96th and Columbus, then goes down to 48th and 9th, crosses over to 6th Ave, then goes up to 55th Street)
  • East Village to Midtown in the morning (starts at 7th Street and Avenue C, then goes west to 1st Ave, then up 1st to 47th Street, then goes west to Madison)
  • Midtown to Upper East Side in the evening (starts at 38th and 5th, then goes down to 30th, crosses over to 1st, then goes up to 96th Street)
  • Midtown to Upper West Side in the evening (starts at 51st and 6th, then crosses over to 10th Ave, then goes up to 96th and Amsterdam)
  • Midtown to the East Village in the evening (starts at 46th and Madison, then goes east to 2nd Ave, then down 2nd to 6th Street, then goes east to Ave C)

Since it is free for now, you might as well give it a try. While I no longer live in the UES, I used to use these car pool services quite often. They were always extremely efficient and super cheap! I also used Gett a bunch, but for their regular car service, and always had a great experience. It is one of the car service companies I listed in my Best Car Service Apps post.

New to Gett?

To try out Gett, they are giving new members $20 to sign up if you sign up through a referral link. To do this, you will need to first download the Gett App and in the Coupon Code field enter GTJENNI56 (my referral link, but feel free to leave your referral link in the comments section as well – the referee will also earn $20 in credits after the referral takes their first ride).
