This is just a reminder that you have only until June 14th (one and a half weeks from today) to active for your 2nd quarter 5x point bonus categories for Chase Freedom credit card spend. For April through June the bonus categories include Grocery stores and movie theaters.  While my assumption is that movie theaters are not a huge spend, grocery shopping probably is. If you hit the $1,500 spend cap that will earn you an additional 6,000 points on your already existing 1 point per cent purchase. If you do not manually activate the bonus each quarter, the bonus points will NOT be posted to your account.

2012 Bonus Spend Categories:

  • January-March: Gas Stations and
  • April-June: Grocery stores and Movie theaters activate now!
  • July-September: Gas stations and Restaurants
  • October-December: Hotels, Airlines, Best Buy, and Kohl’s

This is a great card for your typical spending categories, i.e., gas, groceries, dining, travel. Earning 5x points during the active time frame is a huge bonus, especially when there is no annual fee for this card. This is a card to use for certain categories throughout the year! You have probably heard about this card before and coupling it with the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Ink Bold or Chase Ink Plus for the full trifecta affect and fully maximizing your points! Read this prior post on Maximizing your Chase Ultimate Reward points.

Make sure to not leave those bonus points on the table!
