Ride for Free with Lyft

Lyft just launched in 24 new cities and for the next two weeks (through May 8, 2014) you can ride for free in these locations!! This is for new customer accounts only and is a great promotion to check out the their service. You can check out this promotion and the YouTube video they created here.

I’ve personally never experienced Lyft (they are not in NYC) so haven’t checked it out first hand, but it is a similar concept to Uber. Overall, it is an on-demand car service where you request the ride through their phone app and no money is exchanged – your credit card on file is automatically charged. In some cities the payment is a donation, while in other cities it is a set price (more about that in a little).

You can also get one free ride with Lyft, up to $50, by using the promotion code SLICKDEALS. This is also for new accounts that have not yet applied a new user promotion to their account.

New cities:

  • Albuquerque
  • Ann Arbor
  • Buffalo
  • Colorado Springs
  • Chropus Chrsti
  • Fresno
  • Jacksonville
  • Kansas City
  • Lexington, Kentucky
  • Lincoln, Nebraska
  • Memphis
  • Modesto
  • New Haven & Fairfield County
  • North Jersey
  • Oklahoma City
  • Omaha
  • Raleigh Durham
  • Rochester
  • San Bernardino
  • Spokane
  • Toledo
  • Tulsa
  • Virginia Beach

How does Lyft payment work? Paying for your Lyft ride is done through the phone app and the transaction is cash-free. You will need to set up your account with your credit card information and upon completion of your ride you will be prompted to pay within the Lyft app. As mentioned above, the amount of your ride is by donation in some markets so you are able to adjust the amount (more or less) before submitting your payment. You have 24 hours after the completion of your ride to go into the app and submit your payment. If you do not do this then you will automatically be charged the recommended amount. You can check out which cities have a donation vs. set charge.

If anyone out there cares to sign up with my code (CHRIS33468) rather than the above code, I would appreciate it! You still get the free ride credit, and I get a referral credit also. Spread the wealth!

Lyft has began operation in St. Louis; but some clown want to keep the status quo. A good reason Lyft gets support, is regular cab service sucks and the drivers aren’t professional.
