The Chase Ink Preferred application link is now live! This is the new product replacing the Chase Ink Plus card that I wrote about last night. This is a business card that comes with an 80,000 point sign up bonus after you spend $5,000 within the first 3 months. This is a fabulous offer for a new Chase card and a great way to continue to increase your Ultimate Reward points!

screen-shot-2016-11-14-at-3-00-27-pmWhile the sign up bonus if much better then what the Chase Ink Plus card was offering, the points earned for spending on the card isn’t as good, in my opinion. With this card, you’ll earn the following points:

  • 3x points on all travel, telecommunications, shipping and advertising on social-media and search engines purchases
  • 1x point on all other purchases

This card comes with a $95 annual fee, however, I’ve heard rumors that the first year fee is waived if you apply in the branch. More reports will come out shortly on whether or not that is true. If you live near a branch, then you are clearly better off applying there to save the first years annual fee.

Keep in mind that this card is subject to Chase’s “5/24” rule where if you’ve been approved for 5 or more cards from any bank (only personal cards count) in the past 24 months you will most likely be denied.

  1. Hello,

I know about the 5/24 Chase rule, but what I want to clarify is when does 24 month counting begin/ends. I have 2 accounts opened Dec. 2, 2014 that puts me exactly at 5/24. Do I have to wait until Jan. 1st or can I apply anytime after Dec. 3, 2016?
Thanks for any insight on this matter. I have property taxes due Dec.10 that will help meet the minimum spend on Chase Ink Preferred. Also, if I own 2 rental properties, is that considered 2 business? I already have chase Ink Plus, do I need to cancel before I apply for the Chase Ink Preferred…as I it is considered one business even if I own 2 rental houses.

    Your reply is greatly appreciated.

  2. I think this will really be the last time to get in on the Ink Plus card (which is really better from the 5 x per $1 in the categories you mention.) Appreciate you helping your readers out by letting us use our links in this final stretch:

And, if your readers are looking for the Ink cash, here’s my link for that:

    Good luck, folks!
