Last week JetBlue sold 200 tickets through Amazon for an extremely generous $19.99. Technically you were purchasing a board game and with the board game came the free tickets. The tickets went on sale at exactly 12pm and by 12pm and 1 second all of them were sold out. Probably even quicker. I had a few computers going trying to purchase this while not paying any attention to my two sick kids home from school. While I appreciate JetBlue selling these tickets for an extremely discounted price, it was near impossible for a normal person to purchase them. Most likely they were all purchased by bots so unless you were a tech person and were willing to beat the system, you were out of luck.
JetBlue just announced that another 200 tickets will be available for sale starting this Monday at 3pm EST. But instead of going through the same Amazon purchase process, they will be available via a sweepstake. This will allow the free tickets to be given out through a more fair process, which I appreciate. 195 of them will be available via the sweepstake and another 5 through a charity bid.
While you can read more about it here, the official details about how to enter the sweepstake and bid on the charity will be available Monday December 18 at 3pm. You’ll then have 24 hours to enter/bid.
Remember, with these free JetBlue tickets, you’ll have to pay taxes/fees on the ticket For domestic flights it is minimal but can definitely add up for international flights. Also, there has to be specific voucher seats available for the flight you are looking to take, so you’ll need to be flexible. I used one of these vouchers in the past and there was hardly any availability for an entire month for the route I was looking to take.
