Links Still Available for the Chase Sapphire Reserve and Preferred Cards with 24 Month Language

Last week Chase dropped a bomb on us when it introduced new restrictions for those looking to apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred (Learn More) and the Chase Sapphire Reserve (Learn More) credit cards. The new rules state that you will no longer be approved for either card if you’ve received the sign up bonus offer for that exact card in the past 48 months. Like all other Chase credit cards, it used to be a 24 month restriction.

Fortunately though, there are still working links for both cards that still have the 24 month language! I have no idea how when these links will convert over to the 48 month language, but for now you are good to go. If you are looking to apply for either card in the near future and would be restricted by the 48 month rule, I suggest applying now as I have no idea how long the links with the 24 month rule will be around. Make sure when you apply for either offer regardless of where you find the link to check the “Offer Details” page and make sure it has the 24 language and not the 48 month language – there are some links out there with the 48 month restrictions.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred (Learn More) is one of my favorite overall travel credit cards, especially for those starting out in the points and miles world. It is a very straight forward card and the annual fee is waived the first year, which is great. I also LOVE earning Ultimate Reward points. I actually love all the Chase Ultimate Reward credit cards for various reasons and you can see which one works best for you here.

  1. Would I be eligible for the bonus if I am approved for the card BEFORE the 24 month period is up, but I finish the spend (thereby “qualifying” for the bonus) AFER the 24 month period is up.

    Here’s a timeline example:
August 2016 – Approved for Reserve
November 2016 – Received Reserve bonus
September 2018 – Approved for Preferred (only 22 months since receiving Reserve bonus)
December 2018 – Completed Preferred minimum spend (now 25 months since receiving Reserve bonus)

    Thoughts?
