30% Bonus When Transferring Marriott Points to United Miles

United is running a promotion where if you transfer your Marriott points to United miles you’ll receive a 30% bonus – up to a 25,000 point bonus. This is a pretty common promotion that seems to come up around the same time of year for the past few years. This promotion runs through November 30, 2018.

To take advantage of this offer, you must first register, then convert your hotel points into miles. One thing to know though, is that the bonus points might not post to your account immediately. The terms state that the bonus miles will be credited to your account on or before January 30, 2019. So if you are in need of the bonus miles immediately, keep this in mind.

Is this promotion worth it?

Typically, when you transfer Marriott points to any airlines loyalty program, it is a 3:1 ratio with a 5,000 point bonus for every 60,000 Marriott points transferred over. However, Marriott and United have a unique partnership where you’ll earn a 10% bonus when you specifically convert your Marriott points to United miles. That means, transferring 60,000 Marriott points will yield you 27,500 United miles. With this promotion, however, you’ll end up with 35,750 United miles for every 60,000 Marriott points transferred over.

I personally wouldn’t transfer my points over just for the sake of it, but if you have a specific United redemption in mind and you are in need of some points, this could be a good opportunity.
